Carpentry & joinery

Make the details work harder.

A useful brief for storage, doors and finishing details.

ARMISON PROJECT PLANNING

Start with what the space needs to hold

For storage, list the items you want to put away and how often you need them. For doors or finishing work, explain what needs replacing and what should match the existing room.

Bring measurements and photographs

Approximate measurements are useful for an initial discussion. Include photographs of the whole area and any awkward corners, sockets or radiators. Final sizes and fitting details need checking before manufacture or ordering.

Choose the look and the finish together

Gather a few examples of the style you like. Discuss material, handles, hinges and the intended painted or natural finish. Confirm whether preparation and decoration form part of the quotation.

Think about access and installation

Mention narrow stairs, occupied rooms and any items that need protecting or moving. Agree the extent of fitting, removal of old items and making good so the finished scope is clear.
